About The Artist

What's there to say about me? Good question. Let's start with the basics, and maybe I'll think of something.

Name: Silvestris. Silvy. ( Technically it's Sara Strand, but that's just the name of the boring person I am IRL and can't get away from. I don't use it online. If you write me, don't use my real name for familiarity; chances are you'll make me cranky instead.)
Birthday: July 19th, 1979
Starsign: Cancer. Moon in Gemini, Aquarius Ascendant.
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye Color: Dark Hazel
Location: Malmö, Sweden
Family: Misty, Nemo and Furiel, my cats. ;)
Favorite Color: I love many colors, and certain combinations in particular. But if I were to pick one, it'd be green. Most shades of green. Other favorites are smokey blue, terracotta, lavender, sand. Most earthy tones of nature, and deep shades of water.

Who I am. As a person I am indeed the nice and complex paradox implied by my starsigns.
I'm warm and caring, but can be callous and unconsciously manipulative - though rarely cruel. I'm a dreamer and a romantic at heart, but don't care for romance. I'm asocial, and yet love the whole world and every creature within it whole-heartedly. I love my home, but constatly yearn to fly. Artistic, chaotic, creative, impatient, yet calm and level-headed and even frustratingly logical when need be. I'm sensitive, but stronger than stone when it matters. My Egyptian starsign is the Phoenix, and true enough; I rise from the ashes every time.
Confused yet? In the end, it does makes perfect sense. It's me.

What I do. I'm all unemployed. This means two things. The first is that I'm poor as a church-rat. The second is I have lots of time on my hands for drawing. Yet, no matter how creative I am, there never seems to be enough hours in the day.
It would be nice to have a job and know there was a neat sum of money heading your way every month, but jobs are scarce. As long as I can feed the cats, I'm fine. So, in other words, what I do is draw, and dream, and rage at how stuck I am in life, then get myself a cup of tea and draw again.

What I like to do. Obviously, I draw. I'm still far from happy with my skills, but I know I keep improving all the time as I stick to it, so hopefully one day I'll be able to really capture the brilliant images dancing through my mind and make them come out just the way I want them.
I love the Internet. I love the way you can communicate, learn, find information and fascinating people. I also love playing around with webdesign, and tend to give ye olde Silvestris.Net a massive overhaul at least once a year, often more.
I love to travel and see the world. There are so many places I want to go, Egypt, Japan, South America and Africa among them. Of course that isn't too precise, but I'm working on it. Another reason why it would have been nice to have more money. Unfortunately, traveling is expensive.

Pangaea. On the mainpage is a link to a site called Pangaea. While it's not technically either another gallery, or about me, it's something of a lifework, a baby, a legacy. It's a story that has been with me for over half my life, shaped by and shaping me, providing me with most of my inspiration. I'm hoping to get it all written down, and maybe published some day. Just need to tie up all those loose, flapping ends...

Finally. That pretty much sums it all up. Information on my copyright terms, requests/commissions and such can be found in the FAQ page.
