I 've been playing with this story since I was 11, which means it's been around for over half my life. During that time it has all but taken on a life of its own, and spawned quite a fair number of original characters. This is a collection of the most important of those.

Carryn-yehl

Carryn
Carryn was Corrin's father, the king of Carryn-yehl. He married an enchanting, mysterious woman who bore him his son Corrin, and then disappeared. The noble king died in the Battle of Kherann, fighting with his people against the Ititshi warlock's dark powers.
Hair: chestnut brown. Eyes: brown. Skin: dusty gold.

Corrin
Corrin is the exiled prince of Carryn-yehl, living in the court of Sirn and dreaming of one day delivering his lost homeland. A gifted healer, with the ability to shift shape.
Hair: ivory. Eyes: deep purple. Skin: pale gold.

Lylacra
Lylacra is an ylvain, a graceful canine creature of the high mountains. She is Rylerion's follower and friend.
Fur: white, wavy. Eyes: midnight blue.

Neyrika
Neyrika, Corrin's mother, is the mysterious wild woman who married the king of Carryn-yehl and disappeared after her child was born. Some say she was a forest spirit, others that she was a mythical creature in human guise. She was known to be a talented healer, and could bring peace to the most troubled minds with her calm presence.
Hair: smokey grey. Eyes: lilac. Skin: pale bronze.

Kayalana

Akari Sinju
Akari is Rannon ZanTaoyaka's Hidari-te; first servant. An ever optimistic and happy young man, he often manages to put a smile on the lips of even the coldest man in Kayalana.
Hair: black cherry. Eyes: turqoise. Skin: white.

Isokell ZanTaoyaka
Isokell is the crown princess of Kayalana, oldest daughter of Rylerion and Relonia. Blind since birth she is a quiet and contemplative girl, but her velvet personality hides a will of steel and once she sets her mind on something, nothing can keep her from getting her way.
Hair: pale gold. Eyes: ocean grey. Skin: white.

Kamiyeh
Kamiyeh is the shantu of the Lion Circle, leader of the caracal warriors of Kayalana. An old sly warrior, he led the rebellion against Rannon ZanTaoyaka after the Lion of that time was murdered. He took care of Keelavata, daughter of the previous Lion, and taught her the ways of a warrior.
Hair: steel grey. Eyes: crimson. Skin: white.

Kann
Kann is one of Akari's old friends, and was the brain behind the gang's raids when they still lived as pickpockets in the streets. He is rather thin and short, and his right hand is deformed, leaving him somewhat self-conscious and shy, but his mind is brilliant enough for even Rannon to appreciate it. These days he works as one of Rannon's closest servants, and is also the one to accompany the former monarch on his 'dimplomatic mission' to Ku'Ombos.
Hair: smoke. Eyes: sandy grey. Skin: white.

Keelavata Dashkarisna
Keela is the daughter of a shantu of the Lion Circle, a leader of the caracals of Kayalana. Taught the ways of a warrior since childhood, her life collapses when her father dies at the hands of a treacherous king and civil war tears the country apart. Revenge becomes her reason for living, and during the war she becomes the shanti of the Lynx Circle, second in command only to the Lion himself.
Hair: black. Eyes: sky blue. Skin: white.

Rannon ZanTaoyaka
Rannon is Rylerion's cynical uncle, and king of Kayalana before him. A cruel and bitter ruler, he is still feared and respected for his uncanny sharp mind and amazing skills with a sword.
Hair: dark brown. Eyes: ocean grey. Skin: white.

Rylerion ZanTaoyaka
Rylerion is the main character of the tale; an orphan child of the white-skinned Ititshi stranded in the Arani world. Despised for being different, he grew up among a people not his own, until the day great powers came into his hands. With dark magic he took vengeance upon the people which had tormented him so, and was nearly destroyed himself in the process.
Hair: raven black. Eyes: black. Skin: white.

Zamielle
Zamielle is the eternal High Priestess of Chima, in the Great Temple in Kayalana. Granted fairly impressive powers from her goddess, she deals only with matters spiritual and never interferes in the worldy politics of the land.
Hair: white. Eyes: pale mist. Skin: white.

Ziradess ZanTaoyaka
Ziradess is the crown princess of Sirn, the younger daughter of Rylerion and Relonia. A rather spoiled and mischievous girl, she's a loveable little brat who certainly gives her parents a rather hard time
Hair: raven black. Eyes: emerald green. Skin: dusty gold.

Ku'Ombos

Koqonoxha
Koqonoxha is the elderly king of Ku'Ombos. While he is reluctant to welcome change into his ancient kingdom, he does allow some contact with the outside world, knowing Ku'Ombos cannot survive isolated forever. Trying to curb the more insane ventures of his impulsive and arrogant young heir, he still adores his only son, and would never dream he will one day meet his fate through the treacherous boy.
Hair: grey. Eyes: brown. Skin: cinnamon.

Maqaxha
Maqaxha is the crown prince of Ku'Ombos, the jungle kingdom south of Sirn. Arrogant and ambitious he has some dark schemes brewing; but as his twisted plans are thwarted he's forced to flee the country, and finally ends up a cheap love-slave in decadent Machra-la.
Hair: sand coloured. Eyes: pale green. Skin: cinnamon.

Shaqani
Shaqani is a princess of Ku'Ombos, Maqaxha's younger sister. When her father is murdered by her greedy elder brother, and Maqaxha is then forced to flee the country, it is the youngest member of the royal family who must take up the crown. Still a child the princess is really only a figurehead, her advisors making most actual decisions, but she is strong of spirit, and will not remain a puppet for long.
Hair: pale blond. Eyes: dark grey. Skin: cinnamon.

Machra-La

Crow
Crow is a courtesan boy of the Floating City, the shady slum city built on rafts in the harbour beneath Machra-la itself. Once a prosperous courtesan of the higher levels of Machra-la, he fell from grace when his face was ruined by a rough customer, leaving him with a disfiguring scar. He is Kitsune's neighbor and most bitter rival.
Hair: steel black. Eyes: dark yellow. Skin: white.

Dagger
Dagger is Kitsune's owner i the Floating City. Once a courtesan himself, he is completely incapable of any emotion, and cares only about money. While not often intentionally cruel, he is still a very hard and ruthless master.
Hair: black, streaked with grey. Eyes: pale blue. Skin: white.

Ebenholtz
The lady Ebenholtz is first courtesan of Lord Narcissus; a deadly, beautiful woman albeit somewhat past her youhtful prime. Occasionally, because not even malicious vipers are immune to the bitterness of fading beauty, she gets just a tad too friendly with the bottle. Her relationship with the elusive and gentle but terribly vain Lord Narcissus is an intricate one; was this not Machra-la they would likely be thought of as an old married couple rather than master and courtesan.
Hair: black. Eyes: yellow and jade. Skin: white.

Kestrel
Kestrel, Crow's master, is a relatively laid-back pimp of the Floating City. The bastard son of a minor Bahari nobleman he returned to Machra-la fairly late in life, and not having grown up in its cutthroat clime, he is even capable of uncalled for kindness every once in a while.
Hair: beige-gray streaks. Eyes: apricot. Skin: white.

Kitsune
Kitsune was once known as Maqaxha, the traitor-prince of Ku'Ombos. As he fled his homeland he was captured by slave traders, blinded and sold to Machra-la's Floating City as a slave. Keeping his true identity a well-guarded secret, he now only struggles to survive day by day, his owner selling him to strangers for a handful of copper coins.
Hair: sand coloured. Eyes: sewn shut. Skin: cinnamon.

Lapis Lazuli
Lapis Lazuli is the beautiful lord of the decadent island kingdom of Machra-la. Delivered from anything similar to scruples or conscience, he is a conceited playboy and skilled politician.
Hair: midnight blue. Eyes: deep blue. Skin: ivory.

Narcissus
Narcissus, a refinded and dainty nobleman of Machra-la who is of equal age with Lazuli, and was once his foremost rival. These days he is the lord's closest friend and confidant - or at least a neutral enemy pleasant enough to spend time with, which in Machra-la is pretty much the same.
Hair: black. Eyes: amber. Skin: ivory.

Sirn

Eilah
Eilah is Relonia's mother and the queen of Sirn. Once a vibrant, vital woman, she is now sickly and weak. The legendary gardens she laid out in the At-ni Cal palace grounds has grown wild without her gentle touch, and now has an untamed beauty all its own. The delicate queen lives alone in the highest room of a tower overlooking her beloved gardens and only rarely have any dealings with the court life.
Hair: dark honey. Eyes: hazel. Skin: dusty gold.

Hanyoru
Hanyoru is Relonia's father and the king of Sirn. After his beloved wife lost her health, the king carries the burden of ruling and bringing up their daughter alone. A stern but fair ruler, trying to govern his kingdom despite the constant threat from conquered Carryn-yehl in the north.
Hair: brown, streaked with grey. Eyes: grey. Skin: dusty gold.

Relonia
