This is actually the first Zelda picture I ever made, made from memory, without references - thus all the mistakes and general awfulness. I didn't own the game myself then, (only got it in 2000 or 2001 I think) but had played it at my cousin's place and fallen in love with it immediately.
When I came home I suffered from such major withdrawal I had to draw Zelda-pictures to get over it. Worked rather well, too. After that I always brought my sketchpad when I visited said cousin, and made quick reference-sketches while I played, so I could draw when I came home and couldn't play.
